Water resistance:

Genuine Vegetable Parchment (GVP) loves water and demonstrates exceptional water-resistant properties.

Unlike standard cellulose papers, Genuine Vegetable Parchment (GVP) offers exceptional natural water resistance. Its fibres are transformed into a dense, non-porous structure that prevents absorption, allowing the sheet to remain strong, stable, and tear-resistant even under direct running water. This unique manufacturing process gives GVP unmatched durability in high-moisture environments, making it a superior choice for demanding commercial and food-service applications.

Parchmentizing:

The process involves two key stages. The initial formation of the paper, followed by the parchmentization step.

In the second stage, the cellulose sheet is passed through a controlled bath of sulphuric acid, which partially dissolves the surface fibres and transforms them into a dense, gel-like layer. This layer is then thoroughly washed, neutralised, and dried, creating a naturally sealed, non-porous structure. The result is Genuine Vegetable Parchment, a paper with exceptional strength, heat resistance, and water repellency.

Sustainability

GVP is biodegradable and produced from responsibly sourced and renewable wood pulp, certified according to Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) standards.

Greaseproof Technology:

Parchment products are particularly well-adapted to demanding applications as they deliver an absolute grease barrier; without the use of fluorochemicals.
